We're in the process of working out our conform process going from Avid to Inferno and we wanted to know currently what is the best type of EDL we can create for Monkey Extract to pull DPX frames for ingest into Inferno. I know that Inferno can't deal with 16 character CMX3600s. What about 8 or 4 character EDLs? Also I've heard through the grape vine that Autodesk is going to release a utility that converts the EDLs properly. What we're really hoping for is for direct import of Avid XMLs. Any suggestions or solutions are greatly appreciated.

Hi Scott,
Are you on 2009 Ext. 1? We modified the file relink to be a little friendlier with tape names.
Basically, you can export an 8-character EDL from Avid, created your DPX sequence with Monkey Extract, then import the DPX sequences in Inferno, import the EDL, consolidate and reformat it, then Relink From Reel using Normal mode.
Should work...
Good luck!
