Hey guys, I do alot of gimbal work. One thing that really bothers me about the newer DSMC² RED TOUCH 4.7" LCD is that (from what I read on these forums and am told by the RED rep) they changed the way you mount the LCD so you can only mount it to the brain itself. In order to mount the LCD onto something other than the brain, like to the handle bar of a gimbal, you have to spend an extra $780 for a Lemo adapter kit seen here. **eye roll emoji** With the older version of this LCD display (i don't know the technical title of it) I was able to mount the LCD screen wherever I wanted with just your normal 1/4 inch screw and thread. Even if you used your own magic arm and got the extension cable elsewhere, you still have to pay $400 for the 2 adapter pieces.
According to the RED rep I spoke with, the older version LCD screen will still be compatible with the Raven. Therefore, I was going to look into maybe saving some money and getting a used older version LCD (assuming I can't buy the older version new anywhere online).
Are there any advantages functionality wise of using the newer DSMC² RED TOUCH 4.7" LCD over the old version?
