I have both a 9" and 5" LCD...and love them both (REALLY LOVE THE 9"!)
But I see that the 9" is no longer sold on Red's site...anyone know why??

They said the 5 was, i didn't know about the 9 (i have both). The 7 inch is lighter and better in every way, i think is the reason why. My 9 is great, but it is a beast, i'm going for monitors and stuff now instead of the 9. My 9 has been kind of problematic , i keep one of the side covers off so i can tighten those small screws when it loosens up (i think this has happened to a lot of people). I also think some people use the 9 as a handle, and it's not designed for that. There is forward and backward capability on the 7, so makes a kind of sense to me for that to be the new standard. Also with all the new controls, it's not as critical to have a touch interface for me.

I think I am the only one that is really unhappy with my 7". besides the size, everything seems to be a step back from the 5. Harder to see in daylight, for me, the colors look muted and not as nice, and it scratches like there's no tomorrow...

Hi Daniel!

I have, as they say, had them all...5,7,9 touch screens. All served a purpose and I have retained the 5 and 7. My prediction that after the 5 went out of production, its resale price would rise has proved accurate, from what has occurred here on RU. The sharpening setting in the newer, camera firmwares have given the 5 legs. We shouldn't forget that a lotta great stuff was shot using that 5"er. At the moment it is my back up RED monitor, but still performs very well and could be used as a primary again.

I don't notice any scratchability issues on the 7, but do really hope RED soon releases the purpose built shade for it, that takes advantage of those threaded holes in the frame. Do you use a 3rd party shade on your 7" touchscreen?

I think that the 5" touchscreen will hold value or maybe increase a bit, unless another screen comes on line or the 7" decreases in price.

Thank you very much

Fury
