Hello,
Simple question.

I´ve got one black 512gb in my left hand and one red 480gb card in my right hand

What is the difference and what do I exactly "miss out" by using the black 512gb(versus using the RED 480gb one) with my soon to be delivered EPIC-W?

(Note. I am asking about it because of the difference in data rates. 225-300mb/s)

I was under the impression the black ones had a lower data rate as well. *shrug*

I've got one of each and I'm 99% sure there is no difference besides their color. I get the same compression ratios with both mags on my Scarlet-W.

I don't think your Scarlet-W will truly test the data rates since the camera is limited to 175 MB/s. For the Scarlet, there is no difference in the capability of the cards but, like others have stated, I am pretty sure the 480 is faster.

That may not be a conclusive way to tell, as stated by Terry. If you don't max out the data rate because the camera is only limited to 175 MB/s you would not be able to tell. Now if it could pull 300 MB/s off with a RED card but with a BLACK card it is lowering the rate OR giving you the same data rate/compression ratio with the same settings, that would be much more definitive.

All -- Yes !! The same. My 2¢: From RED docs .. Data rates for the four following Mini-Mags are the same. Up to 300MB/s, depending on the camera. Suspect RED will need to go SAS 12Gb/s
or better when the next camera comes out ....
