There are currently no 2TB HDDs that meet my standards for data center use. The fail rate is too high and the manufacturing defects are rampant. I've seen many shipments where 4 out of 10 drives end up broken or arrive with serious problems. It takes them about two years to really nail down everything on the highest capacity designs so I don't buy the latest and greatest, especially for RAID use, which is where many of the new drives have corruption issues. Right now 1 and 1.5 TB HDDs are a pretty solid investment but I'd stick with the 1 TB models just to be on the safe side and for ease of replacement. Also, if you are buying a lot of HDDs, carefully check each one to make sure it's not refurbished because there are reports from Western Digital and others that refurbed drives are accidentally being put into packages for new drives at the packing stages.
