Am I reading correctly? Some on Reduser are saying that you can use a regular 16mm film lens on a Scarlet, and that it will fill the 2/3 sensor "without" vignetting. Is this true, for SURE?

I must be missing something here. I thought the 2/3 sensor of the Scarlet was larger than the 2K image area of the Red One, and yet I was told that you can only use Super16 film lenses on the Red One in 2K.

If that IS true, will Scarlet footage still be acceptable by television production companies, such as PBS, Discovery, and the History Channel?

Thanks to anyone who can clarify this for me.

16mm dimensions are 10.26mm x 7.49mm and Scarlet 2/3" will be 10.1mm x 5.35mm so it looks like they will cover it fine.

Some 16mm lenses may not be sharp when viewed at the full 3k, however, because they weren't designed for that high resolution. That might be what you heard. My guess is 16mm lenses will look fine when the footage is viewed at 1080. We will have to test to know for sure though.

Thanks, that makes sense.
I'm thinking specifically of the old Angenieux 12-120mm Zoom and the Angenieux 12-240mm Zoom lenses.
