Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
What I'm missing at CineD is a RGB-Waveform for all tested camera not only for RED / Nikon. At other cameras they usually show only the luma-value (rgb-mixed) what damages CineD's reliability.
Magadap says (https://megadap.net/product/etz21-proplus/) Compatible with RED and Nikon Z-mount cameras.
I suggest two possible causes: the weather sealing may interfere or the release button's border next to the camera's body. If the last causes the issue. You may use a rasp and carefully...
May Phil can give the most experienced and detailed reply. Would be interesting for me as well.
As I've heard the V-Raptor should be more robust with more processing power compared to KX.
It would be interesting to know if the VRX sensor itself leads to better image quality even in crop-mode...
agree
price is gread. Thats true. Makes it hard not to take it into account.
In case of recording time I recently had the situation with more then 2 hours for a discussion and was happy having the K-X combined with the BMPCC4K they both did the job well. But yes, it may not daily business for...
this is great and makes 8K full-frame more accessable.
Does anybody know if we will see a Komodo XE (Z) as well? This would be great as a B-Cam if 6K 35mm are sufficient but longer recordingtimes are needed and for a replacement of older Komodo OGs without Z-mount. It would could find it's...
This was the missing part in the lineup and offers new possibilities.
Unfortunately it looks more like a rehoused, refirmwared Z6III. I know, others do the same but this does not mean it is a good idea. I would have expected a nikon-style top-screen (for iris, fps, shutter, iso...) and a back...
on which FW are you? I'm on a KX-Z and had several issues with an adapted E-mount lens from Tamron on FW 2.01, my older Sony-Glass worked better. After the update to 2.08 it significantly improved. Best performance is usually to expect from native mount glass in my case Z-mount.
you may want to...
are you talking about the DSMC3 (https://guide.smallhd.com/a/1469678-focus-assist-pagesos-4). This aligns to peaking and as you may see you cannot distinguish the focus in- and out fading areas. Further on details below the markings are difficult to notice.
If it helps you, use it. Every DoP...
In my opinion most preferable is an EVF but without I'm using just a 5" monitor or the control app in combination with magnification (on camera and / or monitor). Peaking etc. are even helpful but are making difficult to distinguish correctly sharp areas and where they exactly are due to the...
Have you already bought these? How are your experiences? As far as I know you may get a warning about unapproved media. Does this happen with these as well? In anyway I would advice for 1 TB giving you more time to roll.
Have you tried if it works on the SDI out or in combination with Red Control App?
I'm asking because I was only able to test with the onboard LCD and SDI and the app. With the app I set Top-Port as source for the livestream.
What I've noticed for LCD, SDI, APP is, that it maybe difficult to...
On which firmware version is your camera?
On the latest FW on K-X it works. The Gioscope is greyscale if you do not enable the 1st, 2nd... bars. You may have to enable each bar to see coloured gioscope.
unfortunately there is no "mix" setting. You get ch3 on the left and ch4 on the right side. This is a very annoying shortcoming. You may ask RED if this could be solved by a firmware-update.
You may try to use an mono-adapter on your headphones plug but please double check first if this will...
I'm using one of the refurbished Angelbird 1 TB CF express type B card. So far no issues when recording or reading from the card.
Only one time I had a minor issue after formatting the card. The camera was not able to recognize the card. After a reboot the card was recognized and worked...
Don't be confused! When recording in RAW the ISO setting is only written as metadata to the R3D-file with no physical effect to the footage. But you may uses ISO settings while shooting to hint when adjusting exposure / shutter / frame-rate or iris settings. The first post on this thread links...
Thank you RED for addressing compatibility with the FW 2.08 for Komodo-X to help using cheaper glass for more budget oriented shooting.
I've noticed a huge improvement using the E-Mount version of the Tamron 28-70mm 2.8 VXD III G2 in combination with the Megadap ETZ21pro adapter.
Compared to...
