Blackmagic Design PYXIS 12K Camera Coming Up at NAB 2025?

Too bad about the Rolling Shutter change from Ursa.

    Jupio Drops the Ball

If they are hard to source, buy Red or Canon. The Jupios crap out.

    What next on RED?

Yeah, a price drop on the monitor and adding a 5" would be a nice move. No reason that monitor can't be 1500. The kit prices were also updated, with no extra discount for the monitors so that's probably not happening soon. If my komodo OG smashed to bits tomorrow, I would just get a used OG. If...

    What next on RED?

Or you could just get signature primes... I've got a heavy lust for a Komodo VV. Such a great form factor, it's not like you can go any smaller... I'm sure there's some heat/power things I'm missing.

    Komodo-X Price Cut to $6995

    Oh, shits yeah.

Kinefinity Eagle UNIVERSAL SDI e-Viewfinder Review

I do think that the chinese companies are starting to "eat their own" with crazy over saturation. Lights and lenses especially. This does look like a nice product though, and smaller than the Kameleon, but I think I'll just stick with that. It is nice were they fill in gaps in the market, and...

Wish list. How do you think Nikon and RED’s hybrid camera will be?

I'm sure they'll just do what they do, but Raptor-x sensor in a Komodo body would make me happy. Internal ND if possible. That Mamiya style is perfect for a small video form factor, and already possible with the Komodo. A folder out/flip around top screen could be nice, facing up while stowed.

Release of DaVinci Resolve Studio 19 Public Beta 5

If you're working on real projects it might be worth waiting as the projects opened in 19 have to be converted, then they aren't compatible with 18 (if you have to go back down). I'm having mostly good luck, but there's still an issue with the speed editor adding clips as multicam, which is a...

    FF KOMODO???

To be fair, they are taking over Red, who's record of issues out of the box might surpass any major supplier. Not that they don't take care of it. I can't imagine how reliability would get worse being a Japanese owned company, vs "move fast and break shit" cali brahs. Hopefully they can meld...

    FF KOMODO???

I seems like that Meike locking adapter doesn't have an insert for anchoring to the baseplate (from what I could see). So good for KX but not OG.

Nikon to Acquire US Cinema Camera Manufacturer RED.com, LLC

This might not apply 1 to 1, but it should be noted that Oakley was sold to a foreign multinational, and hasn't really changed its vibe since then. Different industries and Oakley was much bigger. It's not Jannard's first rodeo. I did like Red for being indy and American, but some of the...

To be fair, you've been doom and gloom about Red for quite some time.

    Wildlife - Remote trigger - DSMC2 & DSMC3

Sounds good. The tools are good, but everything is more complicated than just recording for 10 hours.

    Wildlife - Remote trigger - DSMC2 & DSMC3

Have you thought about long distance wifi dishes to a home base? Or potentially a 4g/5g modem on site. For both you could use red's network connect for monitoring and triggering through your web browser.

Splitting two smaller R3Ds from one bigger one in Red Cine-X

I've trimmed down a mountain of footage from a recent shoot and wanted to just recreate new R3D trims from these. Editing in Resolve > exported timeline > imported in Red Cine X > Re-exported the trims. All works fine, except... I have a few shots that are have a few pulled from the same long...

    Canon 300mm 2.8 L EF Lens - Komodo safe?

Hi, Just wondering if anyone knew if the Canon 300mm 2.8 L (IS or Non IS) was working on the Komodo. Just worried about Aperture and Manual Focus motor power. Thanks!
