REDCINE-X Pro Crashing on M1 MacBook Pro

Not sure if this helps anyone since I am running MacOS 15.5 Beta but I downloaded the REDCINE-X Pro Build 64.0.19 Beta and that does open just fine. At this point I haven't used it extensively so I can't say how stable it is.

REDCINE-X Pro Crashing on M1 MacBook Pro

Thanks. It’s been awhile for sure. My life changed a lot when COVID shut things down. It’s only recently that I have pulled my 2 RED cameras out of the closet to start shooting again. It feels like coming home.

REDCINE-X Pro Crashing on M1 MacBook Pro

The latest versions of REDCINE-X Pro -( 63.0.8) as well as the beta (64.0.19) are immediately crashing on my MBPro M1 Max with 64GB of unified memory. Is anyone else having issues? I am running MacOS 15.4 which is, technically, still a beta but is very close to release. Obviously, this could...

    REDVOLT batteries?

I have some REDVOLT modules and chargers but almost all of my REDVOLT and REDVOLT XL batteries are showing that they are faulty. RED says they can’t be re-celled and that they could cause damage to the camera if used. Is there a trusted third;arty source for compatible batteries?

Bold Idea to Save Film Industry!

 Pretty much all aspects of film production could continue right now except for that key and essential part, which is actual production. Pre-production and post production can be adapted to remote collaboration but actual on-set or in-studio production is just not possible right now with...

Production Sets in a Dangerous Time

I read with interest on another thread some predictions that media production will come roaring back when this current pandemic subsides. However, that argument was mostly based on supply/demand considerations - i.e. nothing is being produced now (during the shelter-in-place phenomena) while...

SF BAY AREA CRLS LIGHTING EVENT!!

This came together very quickly so we apologize for the short notice. On Wednesday, May 23rd, the folks from BB&S Lighting will be showing off the innovative Cine Reflect Lighting System in Richmond (East Bay). So you gaffer and DP types really should make time to attend! It will be held at...

DEAR RED, CAN WE GET THIS BATTERY THING HANDLED?

There are soooooo many threads about this that it gets to be old news. But that still doesn't make it OK. I have a DSMC1 and a DSMC2. Both lose time and date info when shut down. The DSMC2 is less than a year old and only loses it if left for some period of time. And, of course, it will...

    Apple and the "Pro" Market

I doubt this will change the minds of those that love to hate Apple, but I found this interesting in terms of their approach to the so-called "pro" market. "Apple has also been hiring award-winning artists and technicians in an effort to understand the real workflows that creative professionals...

    CRI When Lighting a Chromakey??

Quick question: It seems like having the absolute highest CRI when fighting a chromakey background wouldn't be absolutely crucial. Is that the case or am I missing something? Would 98+ yield any benefits that you couldn't get from 90?? I am, of course, assuming that there is no light from this...

What Advice Should I Give on Shooting RED ONE?

So it has been a few years since I shot with a RED ONE. A contact of mine is planning to shoot a feature in New Mexico next year on a ONE. I am tempted to dissuade them and try to get them to shoot on something newer but am feeling ambivalent since it is a fine camera and I think it is what they...

San Francisco Workflow Event - May 18th

Hey SF Bay Area People - On May 18th, Sam Mestman is going to be up from LA to give a 90 minute or so presentation about how he shot his latest TV pilot on RED and posted it in FCPX. As many of you know, Sam is a great presenter and this event should be very informative as he show how he took...

    Big Shout Out to RED!

Hard to believe I have been a RED customer for going on 6 years now. From a sheer volume standpoint, I am certainly not a big customer. But, it is great to be treated like the most important one when you talk to your Bomb Squad rep - and that is exactly what happened to me yesterday. To be...

Question About FCPX and DSMC2 Shooting...

So I haven't yet worked with the files from a DSMC2 camera. Maybe someone can provide some simple insight. If you shoot R3D and ProRes, what does the file structure look like on the mag and how do the files ingest into FCPX. When you import them, do the R3Ds and the ProRes automatically get...

BREAKING NEWS: Apple Not Abandoning Pro Users!

The relentless drumbeat over the last several years is that Apple has abandoned the professional market. It was especially virulent when Final Cut 7 was replaced with Final Cut Pro X about five years ago and, despite three major updates and dozens of minor ones, it would seem that there are...

8K and Gimbal Stabilzers. Changing It Up?

With all the talk about 8K and with the realization that it is either here, or coming very soon, for many RED shooters, I got to thinking. There are many reasons to like 8K. Of course, the most obvious benefit is the absolutely stunning images that come from downsampling 8K acquisition to HD or...

Kudos to RED: Youth - Shot on RED

I saw Youth last night; Michale Caine and Harvey Keitel. My very first impression was how beautiful it looked so was naturally wondering what it was shot on. Turns out, according to IMDB, it was RED Epic Dragon. Bingo! (BTW - not sure why it isn't listed on the RED web site on the Shot on RED...

DEAR RED, PLEASE RESPOND TO SDK INQUIRY!!

Hey RED Team - there's a software company that has released an excellent product called KeyFlow Pro; a media asset catalog and management application. The only thing wrong with it right now is that it doesn't support R3Ds yet. They have requested the SDK by the usual channels but apparently...

TimeCode vs. Audio Synch... Advice? Opinions? Guidance?

So, I have been looking for the best / easiest / most efficient way to consistently marry second source sound with my video files in my NLE (FCPX, FWIW). The traditional method, of course, is via timecode (with something like Synch 'N Link) but FCPX or PluralEyes (I have both) can typically do...
