Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
My brother did similar things, maybe 15-20 years ago, while he was still in university. They recorded water in circular wave tanks. I can't recall the type of video camera they used but if it had a CCD, I assume it would have had a global shutter. He asked me to import and convert that video, on...
Actually, no - if you projected a 6x17 image so that the height almost filled my peripheral vision, the right and left thirds of the image would be way outside of it.
Prediction: a lot of films will be released in 4:3 for home cinema. The point is to fill as much of the viewer's peripheral vision as possible. Widescreen looks great, of course. But I like the IMAX principle.
This is actually very cool indeed. I'd never use this camera. But I think that Fujifilm is very serious about growing their business. They pretty much own medium format, making it easier for more photographers to shoot 100Mpx files. I think this is a natural move for them, as they have little...
This camera is not bad at all! I have a feeling that the CCD might make a comeback - not out of nostalgia, but out of necessity. They already have global shutters as part of their design. So... who knows. I am just thinking aloud.
Apple M2 Ultra: 8164.53. On this list, that chip is 476th fastest:

The first 42 places are taken up by AMD chips. They are monsters.
Fascinating stuff. From what I've seen so far, I am not happy with the image quality of the Sony A9 III. Having said that, I can say the same for the first two. It didn't get worse, but it didn't get much better IMHO. So many variables...
Speaking of low pass filters... Leica could never make a cinema camera, because they could never bear to include a LPF in it. :-P The last time I checked, cinema cameras absolutely need a LPF, whether we like it or not.
This makes perfect sense. But the V-Raptor is pretty darned good - in fact it's more camera than most people would ever need!
I imagine that a 65mm sensor from Red would have to be at least 12K. Or, 8K with amazingly high sensitivity or DR. Otherwise, it's just bigger for the sake of being bigger.
