Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
I agree. A few years ago I got the idea that cinema will take it up a notch - full sized IMAX. The films will be cheaper to make, because the format is the effect. The format is the attraction. People have been able to do their own lightsaber effects since the days of the G3 iMac, for goodness...
Oh, okay, so that's what a beam splitter is. Now I understand.
I presume that the cameras are slightly offset? Also, what are the limitations in terms of wide angle lenses? And, which do you prefer: side-by-side cameras, or a beam splitter?
Lennert, it's interseting that you are posting about stereo photography. Just recently, I bought a Fujifilm Finepix Real 3D camera. It has a 3x zoom and a stereo display (but no EVF). It's much more useful than the Hydrogen, although the screen is half the size. I really do like...
These hybrid cameras are getting much better at video. I would not blame you for choosing this over a proper cinema camera.
Just a point to think about: the Sony A7 from 2014 has 14 stops of DR. So we really haven't found a way to go beyond that (some cameras do but they are cinema cameras).
Of course it can. If you are a DP, or understand cinematography, that's all you need. If you are a lay person, you have to explain what cinematography is, after you explain that 'cinematic' equals 'deliberation'.
I haven't watched the video yet. But, I can tell you what 'cinematic' means: deliberation. If it's deliberate, it's cinematic. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
