Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
Anyone here who can comment on their current Mac Studio setups and what they're running? I'm looking to buy a Mac Studio for editing and color grading and I'm curious what configurations are working best for 8k RED footage. Thanks!
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you may want to test this camera kit before offering it for sale.
From the open camera case photo it looks like you have the Smallhd DSMC 3 monitor in the case with a DSMC 2 camera body. That monitor is not compatible with DSMC 2 bodies like the Gemini...
Are you sure that the Flanders isn’t applying additional processing/look on top of what the raptor is sending out? If everything looks good camera-side then there must be something going on monitor-side.
Duclos lenses makes a kit that will allow you to swap the PL to EF and back. It’s even certified by Sigma.

I just got off a shoot where we used the Burano for our main camera and the FX3 for some specialty POV shots and a shot pushing through a backless oven. We used the FX3 because it was small enough to be rigged over the top of a pie coming out of the oven.
Could we have used something like a...
Variety just did an in studio shoot awhile back on white that you can see here:
They did a wider two shot and then a single on each person.
It's not as high key as you're describing, but all you'd need to do is light up your background significantly more than they are doing and increase...
You may consider a set of the Laowa Ranger Super35 Zooms. There's some good commentary on them from @Phil Holland and others, but they appear to be a really good set of zooms that will do a lot for you at a relatively inexpensive price point.
I'll at least clarify a couple of comments here. "Far-fetched" refers not to the fact that it is possible to create art and video from text prompts, it is possible, as we've certainly seen.
The "far-fetched" that I'm referring to is that the average person will be able to create a movie that...
The idea that the average viewer will be able to develop a concept on their own or with the help of AI, or even want to for that matter, for an entertaining movie that will delight and surprise them, is far-fetched at best.
Think about every movie you’ve ever seen that you were amazed by. How...
I do not believe there is any chance this will happen. The new Extended Highlights mode is a combination of both the new hardware in the V-Raptor X and the modern software.
I keep seeing this comment, or some variation of it, regarding the RED acquisition. I can assure you, no company buys another company's exclusive tech and then says, "How can we use this to make less money."
I don't see things getting cheaper for the most part. Some features may migrate over...
I know this is a camera forum, so the commentary is going to be very specific to Nikon's cameras, RED's cameras and the specific tech and models that each company bring to the table, respectively. Although it's been mentioned several times by others, I think there's some failure to realize how...
Wow, the amount of questions this brings up going forward is many and varied.
What does this mean for RED cinema cameras? Will Nikon simply fold them into the rest of their offerings? No more “RED” but just Nikon Raptor X for example? What about the RF mount? And on and on… crazy times.
I wonder if Mutiny could make something smaller or custom for a battery supply for this. You may try reaching out to them. https://mutiny.store/
At the very least they could tell you why it may be a bad idea.
