I've noticed that on my R1 MX the fan is not slowing down when I record. Is this standard on MX?

Has anyone run the Red camera through a Tricaster? I'm not sure how to get the feed from the Red to the Tricaster. The Tricaster accepts SDI and Composite signals. I've got an ET Breakout box, but not getting any signal in the Tricaster. Thanks for the advice. Jeremy
