50 EPIC-Ms. An official announcement to follow. Jim

Michael Cioni has posted about the "Tattoo" project from his perspective. Nice reading. Jim http://michaelcioni.tumblr.com/

Many people want to know what's up with EPIC and Scarlet production. EPIC-X. We are frantically working on finding solutions to supply chain issues created by the tsunami in Japan. We have found alternate sources (as have all of the other major companies) of parts that were exclusively made...

There is a lot of controversy about the Alexa vs. EPIC. Rightly so. (This post was done in response to misinformation that seems to be spreading... I'd probably do a more elegant take if I could wind back the clock) Here is the official RED take on the subject. The Alexa makes great images...

David Fincher said "I choose RED over film" and is shooting "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" on RED. Peter Jackson said "RED looks like 65mm film"... and is shooting "The Hobbit" on EPICs. John Schwartzman is shooting "The Amazing Spider-man" on EPICs in 3D. Dariusz Wolski shot "Pirates 4"...

REDucation elevates to a new level in May. EPICs and a few Scarlets will make full appearances at the next REDucation, the 3rd week of May at RED Studios Hollywood. Students will work in one of our RED Studios sound-stages and shoot both RED ONE and EPIC (along with some Scarlet) around the...

I posted a thread last night, a bit of a rant.... and discovered that someone was "helping me" edit my posts. We found out where that was coming from and blocked the IP. A few other threads were also tampered with and have been fixed. I have since changed my password to something a bit more...

1. The situation in Japan has affected us, along with the rest of the industry. We are like ants looking for an alternate route to the sugar. It is affecting EPIC-X and Scarlet 8X the most. We can't give specific dates because we are in line for parts from alternate suppliers along with...

While we thought that RED Dragon was pretty significant news (obsolescence still obsolete) and the new "Tattoo" movie was worth the trip, I will say that we held back one big announcement due to circumstances beyond our control. The situation in Japan has caused problems for us, current and...

Just for reference, these are the frame rate specs for EPIC (all shown widescreen except QuadHD and 720P). 5k 2.40 = 120 QuadHD = 120 4k 2.40 = 150 3k 2.40 = 200 2k 2.40 = 300 720P = 360 Jim

After talking with our group, and after exhaustive work on supply chain issues... there are 18 parts (out of 18,000) of EPIC-X that come from Japan. More specifically... northern Japan factories. If you are not brain dead and have been watching the news, you will understand that this is bad...

Obsolescence Obsolete... we said it. We believe it. We are delivering it. The RED ONE was advertised as such. But we realized that it could not live up to the ongoing advancements we had envisioned, even though we offered the MX sensor upgrade which is well beyond what any company had ever...

EPIC-Ms will continue to be made given that the parts and pieces are available. EPIC-M are not full featured... but have most of what you want. EPIC-X Stage 2 will ship a few before NAB, production will continue after a slight delay due to Japan supply chain issues end of April. All features...

Well... the things you can't count on. As a reminder, the vast majority of EPIC and Scarlet components are made in the USA and all will be assembled in our Irvine factory. But some components come from offshore. We just got word that a few key components that we get from Japan will apparently...

What has happened, and what is currently happening, is almost hard to believe. The monumental nature of this has significantly touched everyone in the world who has a pulse. All of us at RED offer our heartfelt prayers to those affected by this tragedy. We have many friends and business...

We are in the process of moving EPIC production from Stage 6 at RED Studios Hollywood to the permanent location in Irvine. There will be a bit of downtime during the move. We have heard some competitors say that we have only shipped a few EPICs out to "my friends". While it is true that some...
