Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
I'm looking to upgrade my storage solution to a fast-enough, big-enough, but very stable high-capacity external thunderbolt 3 drive.
Workflow strategy is to ingest to the large (100TB+) raid, organized by year/month, and backup to cheaper/smaller drives periodically as footage is added.
I'd...
As Red shooters our files are huge and therefore candidates for increasing allocation unit sizes on hard drives for theoretical "performance" gains.
BUT
Increasing block size on a hard drive means not keeping many other smaller files on those drives so as not to hog precious storage, a downside...
For markers that I place on clips in the Viewer from the Media/File Browser they don't seem to save when I view another clip and return to the "marked" clip.
Why?
For markers that I place on clips in a project in the Viewer, those markers disappear when I open the source file in the media...
I have to trim nature footage in Redcine-X to cut down the .r3ds to save space, but I edit and organize my footage in Premiere. Since I have to watch all of the clips in Redcine-X anyway, and can add markers on the fly to the footage to signify "hotspots" of footage, is there any way to import...
As wildlife photographers know, lots of time in the field usually gets culled down to a small percentage of shots that comprise usable footage. As red 8k shooters know, even working with just the usable bits puts considerable strain on a workflow and hardware system.
I'm trying to trim all the...
I'm filming gorillas in the wild and will likely be doing some of it at 96-120FPS with a helium monochrome sensor.
What prime and/or zoom lenses can maximize the resolution advantage of the windowed sensor both in video and stills format? I shoot nikon and have all of the main focal lengths but...
My questions are:
-What lenses listed would convey the best "cinematic" effect? Are there lenses for PL or Nikon that would enhance the "cinematic" effect of my footage?
-Does the monochrome sensor give more limited dynamic range at lower iso ranges? In other words, should I avoid moving from...
