Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
Another endorsement for the RED Sidewinder.
I also just took delivery of my KX and it was the only tool used to get camera cage,
rails, plates, etc mounted.
I think RED specifically designed it to cover the screws one is likely to encounter on their camera platform
though it works well when...

Hey Steve,
I think our NLE travels are quite similar.
I agree that Apple is designing FCP with the expectation of footage being edited off of SSDs.
My understanding is FCP needs media that has fast random access performance for handling parts of the interface like the browser and timeline...
Yeah- i forgot MC cost that much.
Yes- Resolve ultimately ended up as a much better move particularly with it being a single cost spread over several years.
Between being so entrenched into studio workflows, familiarity with veteran editors, and perhaps ties within the unions there are not...
Man that's screwed up.
Were you able to follow up with the Avid rep you talked to about the CC situation after they changed the rate?
Granted Avid does at least offer purchasing Media Composer but that kind of treatment is a sure way to lose good will and customers.
I have no issue with...
Yes Resolve is definitely the heir to the Final Cut Studio philosophy in that sense. They even went a step further by integrating those components into one app.
Technologically the Adobe Creative suite also achieved perhaps birthed the idea of a suite of complimentary media products but their...
Perhaps with these Apple Silicon chips we're entering a post benchmark era where the spec scores matter little to even high end pros because the computing
got so damn fast and powerful.
I also have 2 M1 Max systems and they largely keep up with what I need them to do. I always welcome faster...
Kind of surprised that corrections can change across different versions of Resolve.
I didn't notice but I'm not exactly in and out of it everyday and don't often open older projects in it.
It's a good idea to not update any software during a show. I'm still on FCP 10.6.5 which is about a year...
Yeah- Didn't Shake go from like $20k to $500 when it was discontinued. I could be remembering wrong.
I think Apple's mindset was different then.
TBH, I think Apple's thinking then was more in line with where BMD
is now with Resolve where there was an attempt to make the FCP Studio more of an...
The site FCP.cafe has also listed a few articles about the Creative Summit.
https://fcp.cafe/
My biggest takeaway is:
1) The new features in 10.7 are somewhat sparse but very well implemented.
2) There seems to be renewed enthusiasm behind 10.7 where it's viewed as
the beginning of a...
You pose good questions that require a long discussion to really explore the various issues.
Cine D just had an article that shows certain trends that may have an effect on distribution (both traditional and streaming)...
Would have been good to see the AF box to observe exactly how it was tracking faces but for a Beta it’s not bad.
I can see trying this out for gimbal work in particular.

Bumping this thread with consideration to the latest site update.
Still hope there could be a little more participation from those at RED but I have no control over that.
I do have control over my own participation and the RU site facelift does motivate me to be a more active user (work/free...
The condition of some of these R1s is quite good.
Simon your camera looks quite new.
The record button is usually one of the 1st parts to show age and
your camera has nary a mark.
The RED logo on the SSD has some scratches but still looks great.
A little wear is good ... shows character. ;)...

At 8:30 in the above video Carlos Quintero gives a demo of how to sync RED cameras via RED Control Pro and OS Time.
