MultiDyne Acquires MRMC Assets – Forms New Company to Revive the Motion-Control Brand

Somehow, I think all the current robot manufacturers have missed the boat when it comes to smaller cameras. Who needs a 20 kg payload nowadays when we can shoot in perfect quality rigged below 2 kg? Is the high speed really used by most, except for showing off that they have a high speed robot if they paid so much money for it, can't timelapse do the same in many scenarios?

A low end robot with 1 - 2 kg payload with lower speeds that don't require heavy ballast in the socket (or can even clamped to a table) that can be moved around easily for ~ $5k might be more successful for a broad audience than these brontosaurs that sell only one by one.

I have used some of MultiDyne’s broadcast gear on various shoots and they are usually quite reliable.

I never used any of MRMC’s products but they always seemed quite solid.
Surprising that MRMC was upended like this in such a sudden fashion.
I hope this is a nice new beginning for them.

I agree with you Alex that a smaller lower priced version would likely open the market up dramatically for the company.

With the consolidation in the industry, labor disputes, market changes, etc, the high end is getting smaller.

If they already haven’t, I think many film equipment and services companies might be advised to see how their products could benefit the “lower” end and design accordingly.

I’m not the biggest ZR fan but I do strongly believe in a camera that exists in that price range. I always thought it was a price area that RED might consider getting into.
While the ZR is very much a Nikon product I’m glad it mutually fits with RED cameras in the same ecosystem.
