Todd Sansom
I learned about filmmaking while finishing a degree in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations–the more I studied PR the less I liked it. I met a documentary filmmaker and war analyst named Dodge Billingsley and his amigo Shane Seggar and it is at Combat Films and Research that I had my schooling in filmmaking.
After doing research on Chechen warlords and combat tactics I was asked to make a rough cut for a :30 minute PBS show. I said I could do it, then went and searched out what a rough cut was. I purchased Final Cut 2 from the bookstore and played with it every night and the following friday I began the rough cut.
Through several years with working with Dodge and Combat Films I filmed with troops in Afghanistan, filmed countless interviews and story throughout the world. I learned how to edit, produce and many other parts of filmmaking. It was the foundation for what I know now.
I started my company in 2003 while finishing college and after a few years of weddings transitioned to working with companies. Sansom Media is doing that very thing I fell in love with in 2003. We have worked with large brands, small non-profits, military, and sports to name a few. I think I shine in non-fiction, documentary environments but feel comfortable being more hands on in commercial and directing heavy projects.
I'm grateful to Dodge, Shane and everyone who gave me a chance and taught me over the years. I made plenty of oopsies and with people's patience and support I've made it through the rough patches and become a better filmmaker for it.
