    Introducing the Nikon Zr

It's an instant pre-order for me. Last time I pulled the trigger right away after the announcement was for the original Scarlet-X. Similar feelings and level of excitment now. Can't wait to get my Baby-RED.

    Scarlet-X/Dragon/DSMC1 in 2022

Trying to make a decision about my Scarlet-X/Dragon. The market-value has fallen to a degree where I refuse to sell it, the images it can deliver are way too good, even though things didn't work out as I once dreamed about and that wonderful camera doesn't have that much opportunities to shine...

    Irix 15mm F2.4

Quite a few new names are popping up lately. :) I think this one is worth a closer look as soon as it hits the market, it's a 15mm f/2.4 coming from TH Swiss. It will be interesting to compare this to the Zeiss 15mm f2.8.

Sony RX1RII with variable electronic OLPF

It looks like Sony is again testing something new in form of a second RX1R-camera. Nope, there is no internal 4k-recording or other interesting stuff for film, but that electronic OLPF thing is something worth to mention. Pretty cool tech that would be a very nice addition to RED too (having...

    Dell XPS 12.5" 4k Tablet/Convertible - time to make RCX touch-friendly ;)

It looks like Dell is cooking up a tablet that might be interesting for data-wrangling and footage-reviewing on the go. 12.5" 4k-IGZO-display and two USB-C-ports (Thunderbolt-ready), fast Intel CPU, enough RAM and a internal SSD. SD-slot, HDMI-out too. Last but not least a OS that runs...

HEVC and HDR soon to be added to Adobe

I was going to ask how to do HDR and was waiting for HEVC-encoding for a long time. It looks like we will have both soonish directly available in Premiere/AE and MediaEncoder: http://www.provideocoalition.com/adobe-premiere-cc-to-add-hdr-hevc-h-265

readers, chargers - when do they become obsolete?

With USB3.1 and type-C connectors i imagine an updated generation of REDVOLTs and REDMAGs. No more REDMAG-reader in the bag, no more QuadCharger or multiple travelchargers. Just a standard-wallcharger-thingy with a few USB-ports to charge batteries (and phones/tablets) and a cable to connect the...

    enhancing HDRx

I made more experiments with HDRx and i was just thinking about ways i want to use it. I would call it Multi-Exposure mode and with Dragon it's not really THAT much about HDR anymore. However i like the idea of getting motion and stills. Images shot at the same place in time, but with different...

    SLR Magic Rangefinder CINE

So, with this SLRmagic wants to give (nearly) all still lenses a proper manual focus ring and turn all combinations with their anamorphots into a single-focus solution. A quick first look can be catched here: https://vimeo.com/129962461 I have no idea what one could expect from this, but it's...
