  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

So why Red? Really?

Hey guys. I did not know one can get banned for constructive arguments.
Read my posts again. It was not written to disrespect you or what you do.
It was only a simple question presented to get positive feedback. I have
been doing media over 25 years. I respect all forms old and new. Mr Ian,
I did not think you were rude. I did not write to mean it that way. Mr
Aaron, I know Arri has been in business a while. When I said "First Red now
Arri" I meant there 4K technology. I will be clearer next time. The
competitors are all trying to out do RED now. Mr Mark, I have not been
disrespectful. My post was not directed to anyone specific. It was just a question written in creative form to get the feedback going. Please don't
assume that I don't care about creating the best images possible with my
craft and my resources. I frequent some of the same boards as you trying
to keep up to date on whats new and learning new things about the craft.
Please accept my apology. David if also offended you somehow I apoloize.
However, how would you like it if I recommend the Moderator violate your
right to freedom of speech and lock you out because you didn't provide
your full name? What was that about? Respect my rights. I had provided
my full name in the link the Mod provided when he first told me, and then
I find out I was banned. This is not the type of reception a prospective
buyer should get when they visit a website of a merchant they plan on
buying from. Please take it easy on that ban button. Moderator, like I said
I did provide you with my name. Check your thread. As to everyone else
I am not here to criticize what you do or how you do it. I respect all forms
of art no matter what medium you use. I am practicing the same art as
you. I wish nothing but the best for everyone. Thank You. Kenneth
 
You were banned b/c you failed to read the registration rules before actually registering... real names... so, which is it? Kenn, Kenneth? Jerome?
 
First off: there are many moderators on this board.

Second off: it is always a good idea to hang around a board before posting, to see how a board functions.

Third off: reduser is NOT owned or run by RED Digitial Cinema. It is owned and run by Landmine Media, as it says on the bottom of every single page here. Moderators are not getting paid.

Fourth off: We are not restricting your freedom of speech/type. There are plenty of places you can post whatever you want, just not reduser. If you'd read some more on reduser, you would have seen that this discussion has been held again and again and again, ad nausea. You are only adding to the noise.

Fifth off: It is bad manner to use multiple names, does not really build trust. What is your name? Kenn/Kenneth/Jerome or something else?

Sixth off: When you signed onto reduser, you agreed to a set of rules. Obviously you didn't read them, otherwise you wouldn't reiterate what has already been set out for you.

Seventh off: Respect is shown to those who show respect. Ignoring the most prominent of the set of rules you agreed to, is not the way to go.

This is a private place and we are guests here. We have no right to post here and access is granted at the host's discretion. Freedom of speech has nothing to do with it. If it makes you feel any better don't think of it as banning, rather an account with an improper name was closed. If somehow you were not allowed to re-register, then you would have been banned. The same thing happened to me when the name policy was new, so I understand what it feels like.

On a side note I would offer a bit of potentially unrelated perspective; It is my observation that over-stating one's experience is seldom helpful to anyone. I'm not even suggesting that you have done so, but your level of understanding does seem to suggest that is the case. It is generally best to proffer related experience, as opposed to say... Counting the day you got your first Polaroid camera at age four or so as day one in your years of experience. Again, I don't mean to suggest that is what was done, it is merely an example.

Overstating one's experience raises everyone else's level of expectation. It can be the difference between being percieved as stupid, or merely ignorant. There is an important distinction there.

Kenneth, as someone who is also a reduser, just wanted to welcome you to Red user. I thought your question was as valid as many that have been asked here before. And I saw nothing troll-like in your question or responses. I am amazed at the intolerance being hurled at you.

But then, I look for the good in people first, so it could be faulty wiring from within me.

Guys my name is Kenneth Jerome Taylor. I am called by all 3 though
my last name is used in my Military Reserve Unit. Sorry for the confusion.
 
On a sidenote I only reference my years in the art not to imply that I
know it all. But just so you know I love the art form as much as anyone
else and would not still be showing the interest if I didn't thats all. My
new challenge is to find out all I can about these new cameras and how
they can possibly help me expand into new forms of expression. My
interest though at this point is the Scarlet. It fits right into my budget
but i have to learn about all the RED technology to make sure I can
understand all the capabilities.
