I have added a set of Zeiss Primes, a set of seven T2.1 from 16 - 85mm to my Kit and kept the daily rate the same just until the end of february while I check out the new build. My rate will be a 'minimum' of £750 per day thereafter.

Cheers

Sean

That's about $785 USD.

My question is how do you afford that?

I'm offering a similar package for about $800 per day- without including my services, and I have Zeiss ZF lenses on a Nikon mount at that price.

Locally Zeiss PL t/2.1 lenses are $250 per day for a set.

I haven't seen the RED 18-85 for rental in DC, but I'm going to guess $100 per day

So, to offer your full rig and my services I usually ask $2330 per day on union jobs. (I also start my non-union negotiations at that price)

So... how can you afford that?

For dramatic effect, let's repeat that

Well, that's from a whole other thread.

In any case, Sean, how can you afford even 1000GBP per day?

Maybe business is easier in Europe?

Here I would have to pay taxes on the service income- and if I don't structure things properly a second set of taxes on any income I take. Insurance... cost of marketing... then there is paying for those days when me and my gear are sitting in the house playing PS3 or reading reduser.

Plus there is paying for the gear.

So, how do you afford it?

Guys even at £750 per day in the UK and Spain jobs are few and far between give me a break! There are people on here doing $150 per day I remember getting pissed with them (I will mention no names) Cheers. Sean

Guys this has been discussed to death elsewhere. If those are the rates he want to charge, then so be it. Can't say that my local market is any better. I've all but quit offering my camera up for rental because other local RED owners are so damn cheap that if I were to match their rates, it wouldn't even cover general wear on the equipment, let alone insurance costs. I'm hoping 2010 will be better, but I lost money on rentals in 2009 after I factor in the damage, lost accessories, unpaid invoices, insurance costs and down-time while my equipment was in someone else's hands. Sad, but true. My rates are on par with most of the major rental houses. I don't budge off of that. I have only had one rental customer so far this year, camera is out on rental right now. ...There's a good chance this will be the last time, I'm seriously thinking about pulling the plug on rentals all together. And it's even tougher for a lot of guys with smaller kits.
