Epic specs

Does anyone know where I can get the specs for the Epic? (If any are yet available), I am thinking of trading my Red one for it, but have very little information on the new camera to make a decision.

There are no specs released. Lots of talk about dynamic range and frame rates, but the spec sheet is MIA. A little weird at this point, but after three years in Red land, I've learned to be a little better at attentive waiting.

specs? it's actually a tricky question. red has released epic specs. they have downloadable spec sheets. and there are hundreds of scattered specs throughout this forum but...

prices and specs are always subject to change with red.

Will the monitoringports (HD-SDI) support 24p? So when I'm shooting 24fps I will get a 24p HD-SDI signal?

A spec sheet has lots of information, size, weight, power consumption, supported formats, frame rates etc etc.

The epic sheet that is available is known as a cut sheet, and has pictures and a few specs highlighting certain camera features.

Red is probably still experimenting with the new electronics and haven't locked down the final technical specs yet. As is evident from the progress in Red 1 builds, there can significant improvements from software changes alone, and they are just getting started with Epic.

My comment was meant to be "tongue-in-cheek" as I think the difference is pretty subjective and that's about as close to a "spec sheet" as you are likely to find from RED at this point. At least there are a few "specs" on it! :001_huh:

I think I will wait to see an actual specifications sheet, and accessories list, before making any attempt to evaluate this camera system.

I understand RED does things differently to other companies, which is part of what makes them such an exciting company. But the Epic website really doesn't give you any detailed information on the camera, save for the big ticket specs which we already know. It's full of pretty pictures, advertising talk, and very little substance.

If Jim held one of these cameras, died and went to heaven, then where is my celestial spec sheet? even if it's subject to change later, I don't mind.

Sorry now I'm just being facetious. I just want to understand what this camera can do for me, particularly in the area of still photography. But trying to find hard info on this camera is difficult.

Edit: There's more information on RED's website about the Scarlet 2/3 camera, than there is on the Epic, even though the Scarlet is slated for a later release date. I don't get it.
