  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

IBE Optics?

When Schneider is ready to release info then they will. I cannot speak for them unless specifically told I can. But NAB would be a pretty big target to miss.

Zeiss has already announced something about the Compact Primes. I posted about it a week or so ago. Interchangeable PL and Canon EOS mounts, and the price for a set will be much lower, lower than RED. Here's the link to my blog post:

I'm told the first IB/E Schneider lenses from batch production are alive and on the way to china VERY soon. I've also heard that the 25mm and 35mm IB/Es don't have their final design yet.

Mitch , the lower set price -lower than Red's- is it for the 3 lens set or the five lens set(or 7 lens set whatever applies here)?
can you clarify that? -Are 5 compact primes going to cost less than 5 RPPs?

We don't have this pricing locked in from Zeiss yet so I can't be definitive. But the idea is to provide either more for the same price or the same for less.

Did anyone have a chance to take a look at Schneider glass at NAB?
Is the Canon EF mount interchangeable with PL(similar to Zeiss CP2) or it's a permanent option?

Thanks

I've shown the Schneider Cine Xenars to dozens of people in the last few days with very positive response.

The lens mounts are interchangeable.

Mitch...or anyone...
Are there any updates on the Schneider Xenars from NAB?
I was hoping for pictures from the show or any updates on availability.
Appreciate it,

BBroz

The Rebels are now the Schneider Cine Xenars. They are beautiful lenses, and they do cover 5K. They are all around T2.0-T2.2. There's an 18mm announced for this summer and more on the way.

Th most common comment I've heard about the look is "Leica-esque." They are very nice lenses. Available in about a month. $21K for a set of five (25, 35, 50, 75, 95).

2K C-Mount primes?

2K C-Mount primes?

thinking in scarlet 2/3" ... is there any info about the 2K C-Mount primes from IB/E?

price? are there available? when?
now they show a 6mm T1.6 (covers 16mm, 2k... not 3k) ... and some documents talk about a "coming up" 4mm and a 5-10mm zoom... is there any new info about them? and, what about a full set like the red miniprimes?

some info..

Mitch,

Please forgive my ignorance with this question, but how easy is it to fit a 101mm front ring with today's matte boxes, either clip-on or studio? 101mm is not a size I've heard of before, although that's not saying much, I'm a total newbie.

Googling for answers...but I figure you might be faster.

That info is out of date. That is why it is not up on the Abel site yet. These lenses will work with normal rings to fit into proper matteboxes, but I don't have the correct size handy at the moment.

Mitch, when do you expect the 18mm to be ready? June July? I want to pair this w an allura 40-250. Seems like it would make a solid primes zoom package

The Schneider Cine Xenars all have a front outer diameter of 104mm with an inside threading of 102mm.

I believe the 18mm is expected to show at CineGear in early June, although I do not know when shipping units will become available. For that matter I'm not sure when that Alura 40-250 will be available either.

great thanks Mitch! (ill be ready to buy hopefully around September October.)

Btw do we know what the stop for the 18mm would be if you had to estimate?
