Hi All,

As the title says I'm looking to buy any of the following:

Red Drives
Batteries
ET Breakout box
19mm Arri Bridge plates (Element Technica or other is fine)
Arri Base plates

If you have anything on the list you'd like to sell please PM me your price.

Thanks very much

Paul

JFYI, the Drives are about to come out of backorder, thus I would not take a chance on using second-hand media.

Martin,

I appreciate knowing that RED drives are about to come out of backorder. But I'm a bit disturbed by your suggestion that it's risky to use second-hand drives. It strikes me as a bit of FUD. By your logic it would be risky to ever rent media. Do you really believe that? I don't.

The truth is that drives are not very failure-prone, and people's needs change. When I bought 16G CF cards, I started using my drives a lot less. Did it make them any less reliable? No. If I were to sell them (I don't intend to) what would the risk be to the next user?

I bought my entire RED kit second-hand, and it (including two drives) has performed flawlessly.

I have drives (not RED drives, of course) that have been running for more than 12 years and are still in service every day. Further, in the time I have been using hard drives (26 years, more than a hundred drives) only one has ever failed for any reason other than being dropped. Two have not survived being dropped, but that failure was sudden and complete -- not the kind of thing that makes buying a second-hand drive risky.

I know it is only your opinion, but as a moderator your opinion carries more weight than the average poster. I don't think it's in the interest of the Red community for you to dampen the market for used RED accessories.

This, of course, is just my opinion.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the heads up.

I don't think I will use the drives much after Epic arrives so I'm not too concerned buying second hand. From what I can see there are a lot of people with drives that are hardly used. Of course I'd thoroughly check out and test any drive before using it and demand from any seller that I can return it should I find it to be faulty.

The Red Drives are actually very solid in my experience. The internal bridge card that connects the 2.5" drives together is often quick to dislodge after a hard knock (2 minute fix) but generally speaking my experience with them has been suprisingly good.

If anyone has any of the above please let me know as soon as possible as I will be pulling the trigger on any available items in the next few days!!!

Thanks
Paul
