  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X V2

Ok so we buy MBL... install it and a modules tab appears with the looks?

A windows Redline would be my top request right now, so I can create my own Redrushes.. is there any chance in the future?

To use Magic Bullet Looks with Red Cine X, do we buy the regular MBL or is it a custom plug in that we buy through Red?

We need to know as there are only 3 days left to get MBL for 30% off on the NAB special. ;-)

Nice work.

er..does anyone know if theres a button to re-center the preview in Redcine-X if you drag/move it? Haven't found one in any version yet..can't seem to resist doing it either
Ronx, double click inside the preview window and the image will pop back in, properly centered. Got this tip from someone else in another thread.

How do we use Magic Bullet with REDcine-X v2?

It's not enabled publicly yet as some logistic issues need to be wrapped up.

Thanks, Deanan... love the instant play fix btw. Don't know if on my system it was caused from playing back off a DroboPro... in any case it's fixed.

Thanks Deanan.

So I'm guessing we won't know which version to buy for a while?

No chance of buying it while it's still discounted the next couple of days?

And fantastic job on this, really loving the new interface and increased responsiveness! You guys rock!

I don't have an answer yet unfortunately.

All good. Since we should be paying big bucks for Red Cine X, saving a bit on plug in is not a high priority. Just happy you are all making such amazing progress and including features I didn't know I needed but now can't live without!

Keep up the great work!

If you have paid for Magic Bullet, there is simply no way I can forsee Red Giant/Red forcing you into purchasing it again if you wish to use it in conjunction with Redcine-X.

I would most definitely risk it in this case.

I was thinking along the same lines and bit the (magic) bullet. The Suite was very affordable using the discount code.

One thing that's bothered me about RCX version one and two is that if you use the saturation control and Lift/Gamma/Gain, it is difficult to control your image. The saturation control affects the raw parameters, and then the L/G/G come downstream of that, so if you have a slightly blue car that you want to make purple, it's nearly impossible because when you add saturation to the raw, it makes it more difficult to pull the very saturated blue towards purple with lift/gamma/gain. I'm not sure how to address this, but either having a second saturation in the Lift/Gamma/Gain controls or having the RAW saturation also affect downstream of the Lift/Gamma/Gain would be helpful. The problem is that saturation should be the last element happening to be able to work efficiently, not upstream of correction.

Is there a way to drag around the frame crop with the mouse?

Having only just bought a JL Cooper panel - DOH! Are there plans to support any other panels going forward? Either way, it looks like we'll be standing in line for a Tangent Wave, given the Davinci announcements too. Just wondering if there's any future here for our new purchase - or any other ethernet based panels. I'll be asking the same question over at BMD.

Golden rule: Never buy anything a week out from NAB. Damn the deadlines.
