  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Build 30 just killed my RED.

Hi all. . .

I just moved from Build 20 to Build 30 and it all worked perfectly for all of 30 minutes. Now I'm getting this crazy "you didn't properly remove your flash card" messages. Except that I didn't unmount my card at all!

This is clearly a Build 30 problem. I have never had this problem even once in my two years of owning this camera. Now I've had it happen three times in less than an hour. Has anyone else experienced this? What can be done about it. I just hope it isn't killing my cards completely. I have yet to check on that score.

There's a reason I stay behind the curve.

An update. . .

Basically, my camera is dead. It turns on. It works really fine, just so long as I don't want to record anything. As soon as I do, it records for a few seconds, then NaN shows up on my media counter. Then the camera gives me the "unmounted" message. And then I can't play whatever was recorded to the card.

And, like I said, no issues for two years until 20 minutes after switching to Build 30.

I'd try to upload my old Build 20 again, but I didn't bother to copy it. Anyone have any suggestions as to what is going on here?

Bummer, Stephen. Has your cam received any of the hardware upgrades? Audio board, CF card module, MX, etc.? Or is it still in its original trim?

first.

power down.
unplug everything for a few minutes.
cycle the power button a few times.
check your pins in te cf reder to make sure there are no bent pins.
instal the cf with the build 30 upgrade.
power cycle the cam
do a black shading.
restart.

if this fails call red.

it most likely has nothing to do with the build.
make sure you are on AC power.

I am 100% certain it has to do with the Build. But now it's completely screwed my camera. I just went back to Build 21, and, after firing up as usual, the screen went completely black and now it's totally black. No picture at all. Nothing.

I had have exactly ZERO problems with this camera for two years (it does have the upgraded CF reader and audio board), and then, TWENTY MINUTES after installing Build 30. . . death.

I am recycling my camera again to see if I get a picture back.

Just recycled again. NO PICTURE. Totally black except for the frame guides. Just as if I had the lens cap on. Incredible.

I have had NO problems ever with this camera. Now I think the Build has fried the whole thing. I can't believe it.

Just went back to Build 20. . . and guess what? I'm back in business.

Proof positive that there is something up with Build 30. Anyone else have these issues? Is RED aware of them?

OK.

I know that you are freaked out, but i think this should be kept to one thread.

maybe you have to go to build 21 before you can go to build 30. Have you considered that.

Try intstalling build 21 and then build 30.

Build 30 is worth it.

I tried to delete my original thread (I have never posted to this problem/bug thread before), but I can't find a "delete posts" button or a "delete thread" button.

I'd love to go to Build 30. I can't even get to Build 21. I'll try in the AM. I'm just glad I have something back again.

I have a camera that's on build 21 that had that same problem. It would boot to a normal state except the screen would be black, even though the sensor was exposed to light.
 
The best thing to do is file a support ticket and and send the camera log file.
I haven't heard of anything like this happening to other people.
 
I have trouble with built 30 it kill my evf. and monitor after I upgraded to built 30
evf shown evf not selected and monitor black and white lines from left to right and I reinstall built 21 the evf. not work and monitor act burn out blinking.
