I'm currently using the Arri MFF-1 on my RED with the RED Pro primes. I'm looking for a whip to go with it, but don't want to pay $280 for the Arri whip.

Has any one ever used the following follow focus whips on eBay?

Any other less pricey (than the ARRI) whips? Last week I used a whip that had a socket in the knob to receive the focus crank...any one know whether or not this type is still being made?

Thanks

I've been looking at those too...I'm not sure I really need 3 whips ($208) though and RedRockMicro just boosted their prices a lot...
One of the reasons I'm looking for an alternative.

I bought one of those generic focus whips on ebay in January. not so good, in my opinion... I used it once and probably won't ever use it again. essentially, a subtle turn went unnoticed by the whip/FF unit and then all of a sudden, the subtle turn went from no response to a sudden jump. sometimes that's what happens when you roll the dice. If you're still curious about it, I'll sell you mine for $10 less than that ebay auction...

However, I did get a cheap speed crank through ebay that was just fine and I'm satisfied with.

I'll second what Zakaree said. The Arri whip is worth every cent. Properly cared for, it will last a lifetime.

Focus whip - definitely go with known brand. Focus crank - not so much I think.
