A SONY CINE CAMCORDER READY FOR PRIMETIME ?

Where did you get this shot from?

It's interesting to be certain, however I've never been big on this whole "Is this product a killer of that product?" speculation especially when neither product is not actually released.

Nice concept though.
Even if they made like an EX1 with a B4 mount I would think that was pretty cool.

Only thing that will kill is sales of their own F35.

The P-1 is the camera used to shoot "Avatar"

The P-1 is the camera used to shoot "Avatar"

No, it isn't. The live action scenes in Avatar (which represent very little of the picture's running time) were shot with Sony F950 variants, with the imaging head separated from the processing electronics, on Vince Pace's rigs. The P1 was only introduced a few months ago. Avatar's live action material was shot over 2 years ago.

[R. Schorman]

Did they really say that?

I can imagine the Sony sales staff training meetings, in some cold flourescent lit teaching room with desks...they turn to the "tone of voice" section of the branding & training manual which says "Use words like Bad-ass and.."

I was exaggerating a bit. I thought it was hilarious that they record to two tape decks after demonstrating how amazing everything was.

Have you seen the price of HDCAM SR tapes? They wanna make some cash baby!
