  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Rodney Charters checks out the Alexa

Still no on-board recording device & still $75,000, but interesting to see other players stepping up to the plate

Rick

ALEXA ships in June, we have already stated MANY times that we will offer on board recording. We just weren't recording on board when Rodney visited.

The price is still 50K Euros which is nowhere near $75K.

Keep in mind that ARRI has been a market leader in motion picture camera design and manufacturing since August Arnold and Robert Richter started the company around 90 years ago, ALEXA is our newest camera model.

We will announce many more details on April 6th at the DGA, stay tuned.

Michael, anyway I can attend the DGA event? Rodney said no on board recorder at the moment. That's all I meant. Sorry if it was misinterpreted. And for the record 50,000.00 EUR = 67,944.68 USD as of right now - Pretty close to $75k, haha

It will be nice for RED to have some real competition. They've been spoiled for the past 3 years sitting at the top :)

I imagine when you get all the bits you will want for the body, I'm guessing it will be over US$100k?

Kind of like those who thought they could get a Red for $17,500, most spend double that, even without lenses.

Looks like an amazing camera and it will do very well.

HDR, and very quiet fan with cool running. Nice! Pretty good endorsement, albeit only a first impression.

Optics first

Optics first

I contend that the lens is about 50% of the equation in acquiring powerful images. In the early days of the RedOne when the haters far outnumbered the believers I would point out that one of the great strengths of the rig was the PL mount that allowed you to mount the best lenses on the planet (no offense to the DigiPrimes).

I anticipate that the Epic and Alexa will both be fine cameras capable of making accurate and pleasing pictures without too much fuss. Now give me some budget for lenses please :001_cool:

Cheers - #19

i need to learn this camera ASAP.. as i have a feeling it will be on MANY MANY MANY sets

Well said, sir. The Alexa is going to be a very popular camera system.

Arri has come a long ways since the D20. The fact that they are selling these is significant. Looking forward to shooting with one.

Michael, since June is 2 months away, when can dealers expect pricing?

Can you at least elaborate on a Cinema Package i.e. cost and availability of Accessories?

thanks!
