I'm seeing a weird vertical line near the midpoint of the trace in Color. I saw it in my 7D footage so as a control I checked the best footage I know which is Leo.mov from the mx sensor
and I was shocked to see that it was there too. This is a screenshot of what I see when I take Leo.mov into Color. Leo.mov download from RED is is proresHQ

Anyone else get this or is my mac playing tricks on me?

bumpity bump bump

I'm wondering if I have a glitch in my editing system. Does anyone else get this line?

First off, bumping after maybe 4 hours on a *weekend* is kinda bad form. A lot of us here on RU are professionals, and as such may or may not be online quite as much on a Saturday or Sunday. These are the days for housework, mowing the lawn, etc.

To answer your question, yes, that line on the scopes shows up pretty much all the time. It's most likely an artifact from the down-scaling Color does to display the scope data. Images are downscaled to something ridiculously small (384x192) in order to maintain a decent refresh rate during playback. So there's a lot of artifacting going on, and the scopes are at best marginally usable.

I'm sorry if I have offended. I wouldn't normally bump like that but this is a time critical editing job. I really needed to know that my equipment wasn't in error so I used Leo.mov as a control and I turned to the RU community.

Thanks for your input here on this issue.

Sorry, didn't mean to jump down anyone's throat.

I wouldn't say your equipment is really in error. It just is what it is. And the scopes in Color is (Are, if we're being grammatically correct) mediocre at best. I wouldn't count on them for any critical information besides leveling the blacks and whites.
