Hi guys,

I have a Lomo 20-120 zoom lying around at Duclos lenses (in LA), but I'd like to sell it. I sent it there for a quote on a complete overhaul on the lens, and quite frankly it's a little more than I'd like to put into the lens considering I just bought the RPPs. The quote from Duclos is $2665 as the PL-mount apparently needs to be replaced (though I had no problem locking it to the camera) and it needs a complete adjustment and re-lube as it won't focus beyond a certain point. Rather than having it sent back to me in Denmark, I'd see if I could sell it to someone in the US, which would make shipping for any buyer a lot cheaper (or null if you're in LA).

Here's a photo of the lens: http://kinema.dk/linked/lomo01.jpg

And here's a 4K still taken with it: http://kinema.dk/linked/lomo03.jpg

I bought some Delrin gears from a guy on the web and they come with the lens (they're also at Duclos). I paid $200 for the gears alone.

If anyone is seriously interested then please PM me and I'll e-mail you the quote. There's absolutely no obligation to have the overhaul done at Duclos, though I think they're some of the best at what they do.

I'm looking to get around $800 for it. EDIT: Price lowered to $700.

Great look from this lens.. Tony shared some footage and this will make a great piece of kit when tuned up..

Hi Tony,

I'm interested in your lens.

Can you tell me what part of the zoom range is useable before the lens starts to lose focus? Also, how is the focus and aperture ring movement? (tight but useable, or totally seized up? I'm wondering if I could get some use out of it before I pay for an overhaul. Thanks for your time.

Best Regards,

Will Shannon

Hi Will. Here's a link to a video where you can see that particular information for yourself. Mind you - this video was made for the guys at Duclos so they could evaluate if the lens seemed recoverable. I decided to ship the lens to Duclos based on the rather positive feedback I got back.

The lens is able to focus from around 45mm to 120mm. None of the focus marks are correct, though. I'm sure that issue can be fixed with a rather simple adjustment. The aperture ring is smooth and the focus isn't loose - just not smooth as it would be when it's all lubed up. I have a feeling most of the lubricant is gone in the cams. Nothing on the lens is stuck at all.

Still for sale. I do not live in LA, but the lens is at Duclos in LA where you can pick it up if I arrange for it.

Also - I would definitely be interested in swapping for something like a used mattebox, tripod or follow focus.

Is this Lens a T3?

Interested in Trading for a RedRock Micro Follow focus?

I think it's T2.5, actually. Sorry - not interested in the RedRock Micro; actually just sold one I had but wasn't satisfied with. I believe it's $545 from new so that doesn't really match the asking price anyway.

hi tony,

contact me via email if you still have it. i mentioned in a PM to you that i have the same lens also with duclos to repair, it may make sense for me to buy yours for parts and make one good lens out of it. let me know if you're open to this, and i will ask duclos if he thinks it is a good / feasible idea.

It's a nice lens, too bad it needed heavy servicing. It's a F2.8 / T3.3 lens.

It doesn't suffer from diffusion like the other lomo's, it's a really sharp lens, middle-contrast lens. The only drawback I found is vignetting starting a 90-100mm.
Considering it's a copy of a Cooke 20-100, it's quite normal, and it's worth the combined price (lens+service), if you don't mind about the weight. I use mine on my dolly for outdoor shots...

A thing I really like about this lens is the oval bokeh wide open.

It's one of the top end lomo. Nice optics, and this time mechanics are really well made, you can pull focus easily with a meter without worrying about backfocus problems.

I recommend the lens, and Tony is a known contributor to these boards.
