Need color correction classes

learn color correction

learn color correction

Does anybody know about color correction classes ? in LA ? please let me know because I am trying to learn how to color correct my film.

There is a sample page on my web site that shows how to make color correction adjustments to a color scan off the Kodak LAD film, to get that page click on one of the small images at the top of the page.

If you don't need sync sound playback, its mostly "freeish" since it can run on junk PCs and process 4K+ images uncompressed.

You can download the RED programs and some R3D files and pick frames that have good lighting and export a TIF frame, then use those to work on. Export as REDLOG TIF 48bpp 16bit with all color controls at default, full de-Bayer.

Color correction is not something you can "learn" so much as it is a new way of thinking about how the digital process interacts with the original lighting, since one relates to the other. Its best to get lots of well shot images and maybe some that are not, and see what you can do with them. After working with a few hundred "RAW" images, you will begin to see how the curves should be used and how to avoid clipping the highlights and how much noise you can take in the shadow areas.

Images processed in my programs can be exported as TIF and run through other programs, free or not...
