I'm looking to buy a good follow focus that will work on the 5DM2 and also my Scarlet s35 when I get it. I have Leica R primes and Canon lenses.
Would like a complete kit if possible. Also looking for a mattebox.

Of course, Arri is preferred, but open to suggestions. The Red rock kit looks attractive, bu I've read dome poorish things here.

Thanks!

I like my Petroff which I have had for about a year. It is light, and has a .7:1 gear reduction which helps with using still lenses for cinema work. It is precision made and well built. It is also useful with Nikon lenses also because it is posisible to reverse the focusing direction of the focusing knob in an instant. I keep it on my R1 all of the time. Just my 2 cents.

I went with the Redrock. Of course there are better units out there but I don't think you'll be able to say that there is a better FF for the price. It feels well built and the backslash is oh so slight on my unit and is completely manageable in my opinion. I haven't read any of the negative posts here on the Redrock though so I'm not sure what the other folks are saying.

Aaron, is the redrock's gear flip-able to the other side in case you want the AC to pull focus?

I am (since before I had a Redrock): http://www.sgpro.co.uk/
Can't reverse though

what's that work out to about in dollars? Also, what's the cheapest way to get it onto 19mm rods? I like how the RR has a good 19mm system.

EDIT: unless my conversion is wrong, it's only about $20 cheaper than the redrock, plus you have to import it, and there's no simple way to get it onto 19mm rods, at least that i have found.

one that I use is the chrosziel dv follow focus ( now called the hdslr 206 ). I have to use a 15mm adapter with it but it's a really solid and accurate piece if kit. I'll upgrade it sometime but it's worked really well for 2 years now. I used it last week with ultraprimes and an optimo 15-40. It also has a reversing gear for stills lenses.

The best and most versatile follow focus that I have seen is Arri LFF-1.

I was only saying that I had both and SGpro is MUCH better than Redrock (true, import in Italy is easier and cheaper from UK than from USA). Surprisingly SGpro ff behaves "substantially" like an Arri FF4...At least the rented ones that I'm used to use.
Redrock, low price, IS a cheap product.
I imagine you can find Zacuto stuff to bridge FF from 15 to 19 rods.
Cheers
