  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Installed Build 30 during the weekend, and tried it out on a shooting yesterday...

I got randomly alot of SATA_TRANS_FAULT errors (something I could play the clips, sometimes not).. I never had any SATA_TRANS_FAULT errors before in any build. I shot 4.5WS in 25fps.

Also, I get a weird noise in the Red and Blue channel that I haven't encountered before.. Here is a 400% closeup on on part of the image.

The blue channel has "dark" pixels in an almost grid type of fashion.

Glup!, just with the update card on my hand.

Peter, what ISO?
have you back to 21 without issues?

ISO 320.. No I haven't rolled back to build 21 yet.. This project is aimed at ordinary SD, so the noise won't be visible, but I will surely do some more testing when I have time to see if this is only happening in 4.5K WS or in all other resolutions aswell. Would be nice to see if others have the same problem, or if its just my camera. I will also do a new black shading calibration to see if the problem will dissapear by itself.

I used Redcine-X build 104, redcolor and redgamma. The rest is pretty much default settings (no sharpening, full debayer. 16-bit Tiff output (changed to 8-bit in PS because the 16-bit was a little bit large to upload))..

I also checked the clips in AE5, with pretty much the same result to see if the error was in redcine-x or not..

Peter,
Just tested the B30, can´t see any noise but regular underexposing.
No SATA error on Raid or CF

Love new Raw meters, focus.... :emote_happyhappy:

try re-blackshading.

Cheers

Hi Peter

Just tried a test on build 30 with fake fur to get worst case scenario.
this is redcode 28 at 4.5kws to tiff . 100% crop. I get the same kind of noise at 400 %.
however it is not distracting at 100 %. I think its the same as for build 21 ( sorry can't prove that right now. I think its just a compression artifact from fine almost monochrome detail.
Was the Sata trans error from red drive or CF card?

Marcus

Was the drive a 320GB drive or 640GB drive?

some of the older 320GB drives will give a SATA_trans_fault I believe RED will update the innerds for you if thats the case.

goodluck,

Hi I have this problem with a red drive 640, at 120 fps, changed the didre and cable and disappears and them back again. how can I test drives?
