  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Our B camera crashes playback consistently with a SATA_TRANS_FAULT (not sure if I got that correct) and I'd like to provide the focus puller with a proper explanation. Footage is always fine, is it something firmware or hardware like the drive cable? 320GB reddrive, Build 22, 4.5K WS RC42 23.98
 
SATA_TRANS_FAULT is mostly a build 20 and old Red Drive issue. Do you mean you are on Build 21.4.1? I haven't heard of build 22. Red upgraded any Red Drive that was sent to them to deal with the SATA_TRANS_FAULT error and eventually in build 21 they made the camera reject old drives that couldn't handle the higher power needed to maintain stability between the camera - drive connection. The new drives can handle a higher voltage out of the camera which gives the connection more stability. To solve the issue, take the drive out of circulation and replace it with a new or upgraded Red Drive.
