  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How much are the Scarlet S35 and FF35 cameras will be?

I know i should've come up with an smarter question, but i'm new yet:-)

Regards,peter

The camera brains will most likely be somewhere around $7-12,000
but then you need to buy cards, batteries, monitors, viewfinder etc.
so figure on $15-20,000 for a fairly bare package.

Untill cameras come out don't worry or budget too much cause most likely
Red will come out with other accesories/prices than what is offered now
and they may wind up bundleing things in various production packages.

Thank you very much guys!! So i give up thinking about buying the Sony PMW-Ex3. I think Scarlet is the way to go, especially with the interchangeable option even with Canon L lenses:-)
Do you think those lenses would give the quality from this excellent Camera?

Best wishes, Peter

Think Scarlet interchangeable only takes the red mini-primes and those
cost $1,000 each.

Scarlet with the fixed zoom is your best bet..it will cost just about
$5,000 and the qualtiy will be good enough to be blown up on any
theatre screen except maybe IMAX.

I think Canon lenses are a perfect match for the S35 Scarlet. The image quality should be superb.

Sorry... bad info. Scarlet interchangeable will have mounts for Canon, Nikon, B4, RED Mini-primes, C-Mounts and several others.

Please try not to guess... someone just might think you know what you are talking about.

There are many mounts for the Scarlet system and I am sure 3rd Party will expand the possibilities. Still, the miniprimes and S16 lenses will be best on the cine 2/3. If you can't afford either, go with the fixed. At $950 each, the miniprimes are not cheap but they are way better than S16 lenses in terms of cost. The great thing is that they are fast and small.

As long as there is at least C-mount and PL mount I'm covered. Still would like to know if it will be possible to adapt c-mount lenses to the mini-red PL style mount with a screw on flange adapter.

Does the "several others" include 4/3rds and micro 4/3rds? Or do we just have to wait and see?

I hope soon will become an real REDUSER and not just REDVISITOR. :-)
But still a lot of things are not clear yet....
The mini primes could be a good option for landscapes in my projects. I'm shooting 80% wild-life at the moment, so i'm more interested at the long-lens part.
If i put my Canon L lenses which i'm using with still cameras on the Scarlet S35 or FF35, would i get AF as well? Even AL-Servo? Are the zooming would be manual with the still lenses on the Scarlet?
Maybe i wish to much:-)

Thanks. Do you know any side where i can find the updated features in the near future for the Scarlet S35 and the FF35?
I just don't want to bother the pros here with all my questions.

Thank you,Peter
