Red Rocket PCI Express x 4

Hey,

Recently took delivery of our new Red Rocket and put it in the Mac Pro! When I use Rocket Cine-X I get a notice saying that the card needs to be in at least a x8 lane slot but it's currently in a x4 lane. Anyway, I did some 2k Debayering and it was still doing it all in realtime, so I was just wondering if in fact it made that much of a difference if the card was in a x8 or x16 lane slot?

Definitely get improved performance in the fastest slot.

Curious why a 2K debayer?
RR does 4k FULL Debayer at RT. (if you put RR in correct slot) or did you mean you are debayering 2K footage? Always use FULL debayer for the most latitude and highest quality results. The whole point of investing nearly $5K is R/T 4K FULL DEBAYER and transcoding.

Sorry, I meant 4k debayer, but it still did it in realtime in a x4 slot, so in a x16 will it be faster than realtime?

I swear that mine is in an 8x slot, but redcine insists that it is in 4x. It doesnt seem to hinder performance for me though.

Hey, I just checked mine again and it's in a x16 but Rocket Cine-X says it's in a x4. How weird.

Isn´t there some problem with the pci-slot configuration on the newer Mac´s.
I seem to remember there was, ....In the sense that it works, but is incorrectly named? Or was this pre-Snow Leo?

x4 slot is ok if you're outputting 2k.
x8 is needed if you're sending 4k back to the computer.

If you're seeing x4 when you're in a x16 slot, please send me the system profile
(save the full thing) and then send me the log files also.

If you have two 8x slots, try putting the card needing the most throughput into the first slot. It is my understanding that depending on how many lanes available, the first slot gets the most throughput... in some systems anyway.
