Will the comming Scarlet and Epic support the new CF 5.0 specification ?

Yes, I believe their card modular will support any new format as they are testing new cf cards every day.

"best of all, a theoretical maximum capacity of 144 petabytes (up from a mere 137GB with the current spec). Other advancements include a so-called "Video Performance Guarantee" aimed at professional video cameras" - engadget

sounds awesome.

Best part about modular systems, is that support for new cool tech can be added.

Thus, if not availible when the systems ship, then a new module can be added to your camera package later.

I haven't seen an announcement from Red stating CF 5.0 is supported, so it's safe to assume it will NOT support the full capabilities of these cards at this point with the current CF module.

However, that's not saying they might be able to release a new module or firmware that WILL be compatiible...

What I don't get is, CF has a 133MB/s limit and CFast breaks that transfer speed limit. So why 32MB per transfer, is this a base transfer?

Why does it say optional video performance guarantee? Anyone?

That's a single transfer chunk. Controllers, caches, etc have to be able to handle the larger transfer sizes.

Video performance guarantees are very complicated as every camera or device has different stress loads that may totally break some types of guarantees and work with others.

CF5 looks very promising. Crossing fingers.

144 Pb. sounds perfect for the Redcode 15.000
