Hi everyone,

I've been running into problems with a retouched 3 minute, 2k, 20gb quicktime file that I've been trying to import and edit in either premiere or Final cut. I've spent the last 3 days trying to figure it out. The video is skippy when I try to preview it. I've tried to make proxy's - But I can't seem to get them to work.

At this point I'd be happy to pay someone to help me. Possibly via i-chat screen share. Please PM me to let me know what you would charge and when you would be available. I'd love to get this solved asap. I don't think it would take too long for someone who really knows these programs and is experienced with different workflows.

I know this sort of thing might not be the most appealing job to an expert - but I would really be grateful if anyone out there would be able to help me out for an hour or so. I've searched google, forums, posted, and I just don't know what else to do.

Thanks,

Kate Hunter

Im no expert but if you can import it to final cut have you tried to cutting a smaller clip from the bigger one and exporting it and seeing if their is an actual problem with the file? I have had the skipping problem from having a slow computer but yours should be fine.

Hope this is remotely helpful.

Even with a fast machine, if the Hard drives its playing from are not fast enough it will not play smoothly.

Are you using a card to playback as well? black magic Matrox or AJA cards are usually used to do the heavy lifting on large high data rate files.

Thanks everyone for all of your help - It was a hard drive issue. We copied our source file over to a faster 4 hard drive raid and now it's working fine. I suppose the hard drive we were using wasn't fast enough. It's hard to believe it was that simple.

Thanks again!
