  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Ok.. so im going to do some experiments...

this one only transmits 70ft.. but ive seen some that do 100-1000ft as well.. this was just an example

its apparent that some of the
"professional" units for video cameras are a complete rip off at 3000.00 +

I dont see why this wouldnt work..

luckily the RED has HDMI out..

has anyone done this? and made it work?

the only issue i see is converting the unit from AC to DC, which honestly wouldnt be too hard.

Interesting...

Definitely would like to hear about how or if it performs.

These type of units tend to do okay in a clear line of sight when both transmitter and receiver are stationary, such as what one would find at home from a DVD player to a TV. But the moment one or both start to move and have objects pass between then the signal usually degrades quickly.

HD Diversity?

HD Diversity?

The only real way to get reliable wireless is a diversity receiver. What that means is multiple tuners switching seamlessly on auto detect signal strength.
to my knowledge none of the pro HD wireless systems use this technology. They only filter the noise a little better and use the sheer power method to improve the signal- which, in most cases makes them illegal. Since the consumer technology is under tighter control they risk way too much with the FCC so they won't use the overpowered transmitters . Hence they inferiority...
I totally agree with Zak- unless someone will prove they actually make a true diversity system. Like the satellite signal- 2000 simultaneous signals at 60 GHz

so... im going to give it a try.. The 800$ unit runs 100ft.. through walls (doesnt need line of sight)

If this works.. then why on earth would i spend 5k for a unit just because it was designed and marketed for cameras.
