That is one of my favorite REDuser pics. The rig looks like it weighs a lot with that lens. Plus carrying around that M4 with full gear...no easy task.

When I'm out shooting in AZ desert I don't roll as deep as Sgt. Scott Mathews but I'm ready.

OK, Sgt. Matthews is a combat photographer so it's safe to assume the chopper is a necessary tool of his trade. These others here are either silly or worrisome.

When did Reduser become a place to glorify guns ? Funny how people, who I suspect haven't actually been in war zones, and haven't actually seen what bullets can do to people, think that they have something to do with cinematography.

They do have something to do with cinematography when they protect your life when your out shooting footage. Also the picture of Sgt. Scott Mathews is cool because you see the RED camera being taken into a war zone. A place you don't see a Genesis, F23 or F35 going. Just shows how rugged the RED One is.

Gross… Oh shit, I have to puke when I see this „badass pic“

I would say… He didn’t cut any corners for a quite sick passion…
Martin, there are much better thinks to use a 4K camera for … you know it… every body knows it… we have seen a lot better examples here at reduser…

Cheers!

This is the best use of Red I have ever seen. Take it places, no one else has the guts to go. Anyone can shoot in a safe, friendly environment. That is why wartime photographers deserve more respect than any other photographers or cinematographers. Getting the shot is literally life and death. Sick Passion? Its his job. He is unique. You know how many indie films and music videos I have seen shot on Red? A ton. You know how many times I have seen someone take a Red into a combat environment? Only once. How about you go do something worthwhile with this cam since you don't think this is worthy enough.

Who's glorifying weapons?

As a former combat cameraman myself, I can say the weapon is standard issue and more important than the camera. (of course, I didn't look as cool with my Beta cam as Sgt. Matthews does with his RED.

Bottom line, there isn't a better pic out there of an operator with a RED. And this thread is about the pic.

It is also a job where other soldiers tend to poke fun at you (What kind of bullets does that thing take?) But yes, until you can hold a composition while taking and returning fire..... (With your life on the line rather than a budget)

Thanks for support Andrew.

anyone who wants to turn this into a pro/anti gun/war thread, can have a vacation. Just a heads up.

It's a man doing his job. His job entails using a RED camera.

Everything that gets shot on RED is news... whether you choose to watch it or not is your call. We just don't want to know.
