Hi all,

Hope you can help my understanding of these two programs.

Isn't using the Camera as a "Look Source" in Red Rushes the same as using an RSX file from Red Alert if you click the Metadata button?

When we process footage for import into Avid (to DNxHD QTs), we have been using RR. Our settings have included the following:

Look Source: Camera
Color Space: Look Source
Gamma Space: Look Source

The assumption has been that this is the best way to create QTs that replicate the looks setup in the field when recorded. We at least want to use the director's vision as a starting point during the offline. (We will color correct later using Color and the native files.) This is how we pre-processed the files for a recent 2-camera shoot.

Apparently, the B camera was setup incorrectly for a a few of the shots. We were instructed to adjust the contrast in Red Alert for those files. However, when I change the settings as requested, the A and B cameras still don't match. I can check the settings of the two cameras in RA and get the values to match. But when I use the RSX file generated in RR for the processing, they do not match what was originally rendered out of RR (using Camera as Look Source).

There appears to be a difference between using "Metadata" in RA and "Camera" in RR.

Am I misunderstanding the idea of the Camera "Look Source"? Or is there some bug in the software? (Using v21 of both.)

Thanks in advance!

RA, RR and Clipfinder (CF) all use the same RSX look files, but RA and CF can see the looks from the camera, RR needs the RSX generated by RA.
But Clipfinder is by far the most versatile of the three, have a look at it.

But what about the difference between RR with no RSX file and RR with the RSX file set to "metadata"? I still don't understand why those are different...

Well, maybe it defaults to standard values while the camera metadata were different?

I never use it that way…

Hello i am Muhammad usman. Thanks for sharing this post. This site is very helpful for me and others.your site such a great site in the world.your selection is so good.We had similar issues with porting rewrite rules to lighttpd from Apache and found the solution in lighttpd's mod_magnet, which allows you to script these things in Lua. Sure there's a learning curve involved but you can pretty much get anything done. I like solving these sorts of challenges so for me it was fun.
ok Take care GOD BLESS YOU!

Thanks
