  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Just a thought, but in all honesty if you had to guess, how far away are these things? I was just toying in my head with the idea of a 32-core Mac Pro with tons of ram and a RED Rocket and the clips debayering like dominoes falling over....

Like I said, just a thought.

And Blue Ray burning capabilities.

we're quite a while away... a lot closer if you're referring to logical cores. but the next round will have 12 physical cores and 24 logical ones.

if you're interested in what's new from apple, check the forums on macrumors. they're good people over there... especially on the mac pro board

Not likely any time soon. Despite it being the only remaining HD disc format, Apple (By way of his Steve-ness) has made it pretty clear the BR ain't happening. Probably trying to protect their iTunes HD movie market.

Intel hasn't said much publicly it seems, but I've seen an NDA roadmap from a major equipment vendor with support for 8-core CPU's this year.

If these have SMT, that's 32 logical threads (16 physical cores) on a dual-socket board. And 32 actual physical cores on a 4 socket system. These will have integrated memory controllers capable of handling the 4-socket configurations without having to resort to custom chipsets.

The hardware will be available to do it this year, assuming Apple wants to market it.

Well ... you are going to see a 12 core - 24 thread Mac Pro practically tomorrow.

Oh heck, that's nice!
