  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Films that shouldn't have remakes and should be remade!

gremlins and flash gordon would be cool.

now a list of remakes which should be done:

1. Bad Ass Super Dark No Place for Disney left Moby Dick
2. Fucking Godzilla, with Real Villains like the Super Plant
3. de palma taking on potemkin
4. Treasure of Sierra Madre made by the Coen Brothers
5. JJ Abrahms Superman

and what should be made, but never was made: Tom Lowe`s 3rd world war epic

Miike Takashi's AUDITION should be remade, in France and in the US. Why hasn't it been?

If I could own the rights to any property, that would be it...

great movie!

one of the best shocking sequences...it shocked me.

the asians really have some clever storystellers and their financial instruments have the brave heart to let them do it

My dream remake was The Forbidden Planet--- but that's now in motion and I'm regretting that desire based on its current direction.

Movie which doesn't need a remake but I don't think would be a terrible remake is The Thing, as long as it's done well. I think every horror director could remake the thing. It's a great, simple concept with a lot of ways that it could be taken.

no remakes of indiana jones... expunge the latest.

can we also enull the new star wars trilogy and have another go please?

Michael Cera is Michael Corleone. Godfather 2010.

"...especially the diner scene with Scott Plank and Alex McArthur as compared to the Pacino/De Niro version."

I thought the scene itself was unbelievable gibberish. No matter who says the words, it stinks.

It pains me to say this, but it seems inevitable that they'll remake Mary Poppins, which for some reason little girls watch over and over and over. What a terrible, plotless idiotic film.

They might remake ALIEN with a big budget.

As for what I would want them to remake: City Lights, Chaplin. Maybe some other Chaplin. The Kid.

Films or franchises that I think could benefit from a remake now:
E.T.

NO NO NO, and NO!
It´s bad enough that Spielberg replaced the shotguns with walkie talkies.

+1

Godzilla should not be remade. Gojira (1954 pre-american recut) was perfect.

Spawn should get remade. And directed by Guillermo Del Toro.

I agree that what Spielberg did was a terrible butchering of his original work... That said, I still think E.T. could do with a remake as long as Spielberg is nowhere within 2000 miles of any part of it. I've always had a real fondness for E.T. and the concept behind the film. However, it's a a story that I would want to tell in a different way.

So in reality, if it were to be re-made, it will probably fall short of my expectations and fans of the original wouldn't be pleased.

Now that ALIEN has been mentioned, that is definitely a franchise that I think could be rebooted in the not too distant future. The last couple entries were absolute stinkers... Alien vs. Predator -- cool concept, but had to be one of the top 10 suckiest and most stupid movies ever made, and then they made another one. Ouch.

I don't think anyone should re-make Predator. Ooops, too late. It's being re-made right now, but in the disguise of another sequel called "Predators". But yet once again, a team of elite soldiers are stalked by an alien hunters. IMO, from everything I've heard, it sounds just like the original, but without Arnold and with more aliens. I'm betting $20 it's going to sucketh mightily.

oh come on! i love mary poppins. besides, have you seen the compositing? or how about the animation? it's classic, it's... it's... supercalifragilisticexpealidocious!

Yes, yes, I agree with everyone here... we need a prequel to High School Musical.

What were the kids like in middle school? Elementary school? It's a perfect Chris Nolan vehicle.

The Godzilla they did in 1998, the one in New York could probably be remade into something much better. The concept was good, but let down by weak characters and bad pacing.

I'd say if it was a lot faster paced, and had a lot more handheld or really quickly moving shots like any JJ Abrams movie, it would have been a lot more effective. It also would be great to recast that and rewrite it so the actors have a lot more to work with, and can deliver a better performance.

I tell you a good one for a remake (and I think I heard it is in production)

Clash of the titans. The story is good... the animation in the original still kind of stands up today, but the acting is just so bad from the lead.
