Matt kindly posed for this pic with the 25mm miniRED prime. I had no idea these were so SMALL!! Amazing.

The Scarlet brain also looks really small when one of these is attached.

That's hilariously small! Considering the size of the RPPs in comparison to most other Spherical 35mm primes, I figured the Mini Primes would be a little larger than Zeiss DigiPrimes. Remarkable!

Is there a screw on filter thread on the Mini Prime. For effects work it would very useful to have even for an optical clear glass.

MAN those ARE small. I REALLY need to see some images from them, which I'm sure will be good but for the size and overall value of the Cinema, and its ability to become future resilient I'm beginning to rethink my eventual Scarlet purchase for which one is right for me.

I've began to really hover into the ballpark of purchasing a Fixed, until it pays for itself, then, depending on the jobs of course, 4+ or - months later adding a Scarlet S35 to my setup. That way I can eventually add some Zeiss Zf.2 primes to the party, which I've wanted to buy for ~3+ months now. Although I'm still not sure considering we haven't seen footage from either the Fixed or the Cinema as of yet. Which means I'm come to also employ RED's policy. All future proposed equipment purchase plans subject to change, count on it.

Hope the force is with them... Personally I'm a little skeptic. I always looked after bigger lens means better sharpness and so on. I hope I'll have the chance to test these.

Not true. Switar lenses are really small (probably smaller than these) and produce really beautiful images.

I am very interested in these lenses. My concerns are not optical as I am sure RED took care of that. I am more concerned over the fact that the focus ring is RIGHT up against the body and that with such a small diameter the throw will be short.

I was thinking the same, but if these lenses are electronically controlled by the camera, then it won't be much of an issue. I can't remember if the mini primes are or not.

They are full manual... no internal electronics.

and again.. I don't know anything. I have not put these up on a camera an attached a FF. Just my concerns...

Why? I'm really digging the thought of a mattebox for 2.5" filters...

:sarcasm:

If you use a follow focus you can get diffrent gears and gear wheels if you have a very short throw or if to focus points are very close together. there are follow focus where you can change the gear. For example for the use with 16mm.

I know you can get various gears for FF's. What that means is that my hand has to turn shorter or further. However there is a certain threshold in the actual diameter of a lens versus the tension you have to overcome to move the ring that make small moves a problem.

The miniRED focus and iris rings are like BUTTER btw.

Justin, are you saying this from experience, or third-hand? I know one of them was shown on a Scarlet by Ted, so I'm just wondering if you've handled them yourself.
