  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Pantone Huey Pro

The very short answer is that its better than no monitor calibration, but not as good as most other monitor calibration.

The main problem is that Huey is the wrong sort of calibration. Its intended for print work, you need calibration intended for video work.

I'd start with a simple SMPTE calibration just using generated REC 709 bars from your NLE through your monitoring path. Do it by eye.

Do it again every week or two. Calibrate every monitor in your facility.

sRGB has the same color primaries as Rec.709 so you would much closer in accuracy.

However the luminance values for sRGB aren't going to be accurate, since sRGB allows for 0-255 while Rec.709 is usually 16-235.

If you had to do it on a budget, I'd say you would be pretty close, but your aparent brightness would still be off. You need a real Rec.709 monitor to be accurate.
