I often thought about changing from Mac to PC because of upgradeability and costomizing to my needs. But the red workflow is still Apple, and I'm using Final cut so I would love to have the best out of both worlds. I asked a company to costum built me a rackmount PC (for easy setup on set inspired by Zakaree Sandberg) that can boot from Windows7 and Snow Leopard from two different SSD drives. Here in Germany this so called Hack Pro or Hackintosh is legal, cause the customers rights say that you need to be informed BEFOR the perchase of a product how you are limited to use it but the Mac Os discs only do that after you opened the box after buying it so too late. Thats why there is a company that builds those Hackingoshs proffessional: www.pearc.de
there you can get a stable running already mac Os installed PC that costs the half to a Mac Pro with the same specs. (you can also get Windows booted from another hard drive)
That's why the company has no problems with costum building this Comp for me and they are putting the components together, which I can post when I get them, but they warned me about the upgrading problems to newer versions of the Mac Os to be problematic and unstable. I read on insaynlymac that you simply would have to wait for someone to write a new EFI.
Through their posts on reduser I know that for example Zackare Sandberg, Evangelos Achillopulus and Alex Carr are using similar systems. So maybe you guys or someone else can help me out with some experiences?
What components work best (at the moment and in the Future) and how stable and easy upgradeable is such a Hackintosh?
Regards Kim
