Hi, everyone!

Here's what might be a tricky one:

Did some test shots of my son, using the 640 GB Drive. All of them looks ok when played back in the camera!! But when I connect the Drive to the computer and look at them in RedcineX or Redcine or L&T or whatever, they are all just black, exept the 3 first shots!?! Still there's plenty of data and frames on every file (says Finder and RedcineX)!

Copying to the hard drive doesn't help!

Using Redundead doesn't help!

Mounting the Red Drive to the camera again. Booting. Testing. And there they are! All shots looking fine again!?!

Restarting the computer. Mounting the Drive. The black shots are back!

This is realy scary! I thought inspecting the shots on a set, using the camera, would be sufficient.

Anyone out there with a solution to this??

Best!

when you get them loaded up in a red app. Try to hit the defaults button. Not the meta data button. I have had this problem b4 where red alert says it has 4533 frames but they are all black. I hit the defaults button at the top or mess with some of the sliders and I get a picture back. Give it a try. It has only happened to me once in a full year of shooting 3 days a week.

hope this helps.

Don't be scared, your footage is there. Jason is right, it is most likely a meta data fault causing the software to come up with 0 Gamma.

If DEFAULTS doesn't work, adjust the gamma and curves and your footage will jump back to life.

All is well.

Thanks, J & J!
Pulling some handles did the jobb (different handles for different shots!?)!
But it's still a bit scary... It seems as the meta data is missread by RCX, and even by RC at the moment. RC has been totally reliable untill yesterday!? I try formatting the Drive and resetting the camera to factory settings and see if it helps.
