Sorry if this has been posted before (I couldn't find it).

They have created a wireless controller to plug into the RED, http://www.finalcutuser.com/?p=1775

It looks ok, just one MORE thing you need to plug into the cam, but I guess it would be good for certain situations, etc....

And next one will be for Fixed Scarlet

its a pretty cool device, I am testing two units. The iphone interface is nice w/ multiple cameras. Currently only works with digital motors. It was discussed earlier in another thread.
The unit is very compact and powers of the rear lemo on Red One.

What I find surprising is that it doesn't seem adaptable to remote focus or zoom control.

It seems to me the hardware should work for both focus and zoom... its the same gears and motors after all.

Well, I suppose the motor may not be able to move in very fin increments- but that should be a simple upgrade.

So really it seems like the software is the issue... I can't go trying to follow focus on device marked in f or t stops.

Updated software should allow this hardware to work for focus and zoom.

I have a particular interest in remote follow focus because, particularly on wider angle & still camera lenses, the focus throws are so short that its hard to make a clean pull on the handwheel. The software's ability to set focus extents, then "magnify" them is an asset- I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking this.

So... software update to allow focus & zoom control, then you have a buyer of two or more units.

This seems really cool. From his demonstration it looked like there was very little lag between the phone and motor. It would be cool to do something like this but to make the phone a video receiver capable of displaying an image from camera, with focus control right along side it.

Unit is expensive and only works as iris control right now from what I understood by talking to the company. You also need a digital motor as well so definitely not cost effective.

The current version is designed for someone who already has a Preston FIZ...if you dont have a Preston it really doesn't make much sense at this point.
