Hi,

I posted this some time ago and received an overwhelming response. Unfortunately due to the terrible weather in the UK over the last month, the shoot has been delayed eight weeks and now begins shooting February 13th through until the 21st.

We are shooting a short film in a grade 2 listed building in North Wales, set of 1500 acres of land. It's absolutely beautiful & very British. 95% of the film is set in and around the extensive grounds. The screenplay is a beautiful fantasy/drama with some stunning opportunities for creative photography. Our last film (just a small project in the summer shot on HDV) was extremely well received over here in the UK and can be viewed here:

We have a decent-ish budget for a project of this size, and already have equipment rental in place. We currently have 3 Arri 800watt tungsten lights, a Chimera soft box, a 1.2kw HMI par, a set of Rosco LED lite panels, and 2 x Kino Flo 4banks and 2 battery powered 500watt Tungsten lights. On the camera/grip side we have a Red One (with all needed accessories), Zeiss MK3 S/S primes, Arri matte box, FF4 ff, Willi go dolly/track, O'Connor 2060 head with tall/short/baby legs and hi-hat etc... we're entirely kitted out, and also have a two day 25 foot Jimmy Jib rental in place for a few shots I have planned.

Now the reason I'm posting is that I usually Direct & DP/operate which I am usually fine with. On this project, I don't feel I will be able to perform all of these duties to a high level and I've worked too long and too hard on this project for that to be the case. I'm really sorry to have to say this, but too much is at stake.

The entire project is coming out of my own pocket, and therefore there's no way I can afford to pay the crew. There are eleven of us so far, and absolutely none of us are doing this to profit, we just want to make a great film and enjoy ourselves in the process. What I can offer you is the chance to be creative, a good script, a wonderful crew and cast, a beautiful location, hot meals, and somewhere to put your head after a long days shooting. We're all young (average age of 22) but we're extremely focused, dedicated and we are told talented. We are the height of professionalism in our approach, attitude and dedication to the project. I personally doubt you will find a more enthusiastic group of filmmakers with our combination of calibre/age.

Suffice to say we're looking for a skilled and experienced DP who is familiar with the Red One/Mysterium sensors needs. Please also have something to show us, a show reel, a film, anything that will enable to see your previous work. You can either contact me through here, or at kidswithcrayons[at]gmx.com

I look forward to hearing from you. and please remember this shoots in the UK (Wales) in mid February time before e-mailing. This job will require at least 3/4 weeks spent before the project discussing shot setups, ideas and generally getting to know one and other online/through phone calls or meet ups depending on where you are located.

All the best.

Jamie.

Hi Simon,

Myself and my trusted editor will be doing the offline editing.

We were planning to grade ourselves in a Lustre 2010 suite, but are open to suggestions. PM me if you would prefer.

Jamie.
